Breast Cancer Awareness Celebrated At Hoffman Law Firm With Pink Columns

Every October, the columns of Hoffman Law Firm become powerful symbols of awareness, prevention and most of all, hope. By painting our columns pink, the firm hopes to not only honor the lives lost to breast cancer, but celebrate survivors and celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness.

Be sure to take a look as you’re traveling down Rivers Avenue in North Charleston – and more importantly, remember to schedule a screening before Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends!

Here at Hoffman Law Firm, LLC, our team is dedicated to supporting the battle against breast cancer. We are proud to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the world’s largest non-profit committed to ending breast cancer. The organization not only funds life-changing research, but provides helpful resources for patients and survivors.

Think Pink: Schedule Your Screening

Did you know that about 1 in 8 American women (approximately 13%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime? This year alone, an estimated 281,550 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed. That makes breast cancer the most common cancer worldwide as of 2021, according to the World Health Organization.

While the overall death rate fell 1% per year from 2013 to 2018, there is still work to be done to raise awareness and encourage prevention. The strides made are likely a result of advances in medical treatment and increases in earlier detection. The key to survival lies in early detection through screening, which is why the American Cancer Society will recommend the following:

  • Women at high risk for breast cancer (based on certain factors): Get a breast MRI and a mammogram every year, typically starting at age 30.
  • Women with average risk: Schedule a mammogram every year, starting at age 40.
  • Aged 45 to 54 Women: Get a mammogram every year.

Indeed, the pandemic cause many Americans to skip elective procedures, including mammograms and other cancer screenings. Yet it’s time to prioritize prevention! Healthcare clinics have precautions in place to keep patients safe, so don’t hesitate to reschedule your screening!

Of course, we want you to join us in spreading awareness. You can support local organizations or use social media for awareness hashtags like #fightlikeagirl #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #breastcancerawarenessmonth #breastcancersurvivor #breastcancersucks.
