Now, after 32 years in private and corporate practice, it's time for a new challenge and to say good-bye to an old one.
Since August, 2011, my wife, CJ, and I have been operating the Robert and Eleanor Franke Charitable Foundation, Inc., as its Executive Director and Executive Assistant. At the same time, and as a direct result of our new responsibilities with the Franke Foundation, I have resigned my position as Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee, a position I held since 1989, and merged our bankruptcy division with the law firm of Eglash Law Office, also in La Crosse, where I will be employed at our current facility on South 3rd Street, on an "of Counsel" basis.
From our 3rd Street location, I will also be a consultant with the newly created law firm, Discount Bankruptcy Services® of La Crosse, LLC, which I had operated as a trade name since 2009, and which will now continue our lower-cost Chapter 7 bankruptcy practice with the assistance of our former employees as well as a managing attorney from the Eglash Law Office. The new firm is a joint venture between Hoffman Law Firm, LLC and the Law Office of Heidi M. Eglash, LLC.
For those whom I, and the firms with which I have been associated over the years, have served for nearly 1/3rd of a century, I will still be available on a limited basis to speak with about matters which may arise, from time to time, relating to past services. We retain a minimum of 6 years' hard-copy records at our location, but as part of our merger arrangement with the Eglash Law Office, they will be taking over our Will files and I encourage you in the strongest possible terms to allow them to serve your needs into the future.
Finally, I want to offer my thanks to so many who have made my law career in La Crosse as special as its been during these years. We'll see you around!
